Imprecise excision of P{EP}GE21229 results in a 5542bp deletion, beginning 2483bp 5' of and ending 3059bp 3' of the smg start codon. This deletion leaves 39bp of the open reading frame in the smg RA, RB, RC, and RE isoforms.
