Two nucleotide deletion within exon 2, producing a frameshift which is predicted to result in a truncated protein that contains only 15% of the full-length ohgt-PA protein (84 amino acid residues from the N terminus plus 7 amino acid residues, RGQSSQQ).
A 2 bp deletion leads to a frameshift in the second coding exon and early translation termination shortly thereafter.
ohgtEx2 homozygotes are viable and fertile but about 30% display about 12 hr delay to pupate.
Despite a similar food intake to wild-type, ohgtEx2 homozygotes and ohgtEx2/Df(3R)Exel6155 have bigger body and organ size compared to controls, as assessed by body length in pupae and wet weight and wing area in adults - this is associated with increased cell number (measured in the posterior wing compartment).
