Immortalised expression of CadNdsRNA.UAS.cUa in olfactory receptor neurons specified by ato under the control of Scer\GAL4FRT.Act5C following the excision of an FRT cassette catalyzed by Scer\FLP1FLPo.ato leads to the disorganization of the whole antennal lobe and fuzzy glomerular borders. ato-positive olfactory receptor neurons reach the antennal lobe and form the axon commissure but fail to target the correct glomeruli. Unlike wild-type controls, their axons appear to form presynaptic sites in the commissure (as indicated by the presence of immunopositive brp staining). Axons of amos-positive olfactory receptor neurons Or67d and Or88a fail to converge on a single glomerulus and the axon bundle is defasciculated.
