      lgs1-5/lgs1-5 mutants exhibit severely delayed development, and the majority die in their pupal cases. Most adult escapers exhibit patterning defects, including proximal leg duplications, dorso-ventral polarity defects, and loss of sternites in the ventral abdomen.
