The expression of Gr36aScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr89a.2 leads to no significant electrophysiological response changes of labellar I-a, I-b or S-a sensilla to the following bitter tastants, as compared to controls: Rotenone, N,N-Diethyl-m-toluamide, Escin, Gossypol, Theobromine, Caffeine, Umbelliferone, Theophylline, Cucurbitacin I hydrate, D-(+)-sucrose octaacetate, Azadirachtin, Aristolochic acid, Myricetin, Strychnine nitrate salt, Coumarin, Saponin, Sparteine sulfate salt, Quinine, (-)-lobeline HCl, Denatonium benzoate and Berberine chloride.
The expression of Gr36aScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr89a.2 leads to Gr59cΔ homozygous labellar I-a sensilla displaying a small but significant suppression of their novel electrophysiological response to Caffeine, but not to Umbelliferone or Theophylline, and leads to these mutant sensilla displaying novel responses to D-(+)-sucrose octaacetate, Sparteine sulfate salt, Coumarin and Azadirachtin, significantly increased responses to Saponin and Aristolochic acid, and a significantly decreased response to Berberine chloride.
