The expression of Rgk1dsRNA.shRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107, Scer\GAL42765, Scer\GAL4c739, Scer\GAL4Rgk1-NP5225 (an intrinsic Gal4 driver of Rgk1), or Scer\GAL4Mef2.247, but not Scer\GAL41993, leads to a significant decrease in intermediate-term olfactory memory (2h after conditioning) in adults, assessed by olfactory aversive conditioning assays, as compared to controls; expression under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 alone also leads to a significant decrease in short-term olfactory memory (5min after conditioning) in adults, as compared to controls; expression under the combined control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 and Gal80[ts] in order to only transiently express for 3 days during adulthood leads to an equally transient decrease in intermediate-term memory, as compared to controls. None of the above expression conditions results in significant defects in olfactory acuity, response to electric shocks, or morphology of the mushroom body, as compared to controls.
