UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of a chimeric protein consisting of most of cic (amino acids 1-1380) including the C1 domain, fused to the C-terminal portion (amino acids 325-424) of Hsap\DUX4. The composition of this chimeric protein mirrors oncogenic CIC-DUX4 fusion chimeras associated with Ewing-like sarcomas in humans.
Expression of cic::Hsap\DUX4Scer\UAS.cFa under the control of Scer\GAL4cv-c-C5 causes severe defects including reduced wing size, ectopic venation and blistered wings.
