Description

The endogenous ato locus has been replaced with a mutated form of ato in which the highly conserved proneural phosphorylation site is changed from Ser to Ala (non-phosphorylatable mutation). Generated by the IMAGO knockin approach.

Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

atoSA-KI mutant adults show defects in eye morphology - smaller eyes with ommatidia of uneven size, missing and disorganized interommatidial bristles and loss of photoreceptor neurons (number of which range from two to seven per ommatidium) as well as photoreceptor cell-fate determination defects.

Enhanced by
Statement
Reference

atoSA-KI has abnormal neuroanatomy | adult stage phenotype, enhanceable by Egfr[+]/Egfrf2

Statement
Reference

atoSA-KI has eye photoreceptor cell phenotype, enhanceable by Egfr[+]/Egfrf2

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The reduced number of photoreceptor neurons per ommatidium characteristic for atoSA-KI mutants is further decreased by combination with a single copy of Egfrf2 and majority of the ommatidia contain only the R8 photoreceptor cell.
