UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of zip that has a ubiquitin coding sequence (human) fused to its C-terminal end (to artificially mimic the mono-ubiquitinated form of the protein). The protein is tagged at the N-terminal end with a Tag:HA epitope.
Flies carrying clones expressing zipScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1,T:Uuuu\Ub under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU in the Johnston's organ display detached scolopidia phenotype although its penetrance is low (around 5%).
