Description

UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of trbl carrying a R141Q amino acid replacement. The location of this mutation in trbl is equivalent to the rare Q/R84 SNP found in the human TRIB3 gene (R at this position in the human gene is associated with a predisposition to early onset insulin resistance and early onset Type 2 diabetes). The protein is tagged at the N-terminal end with Tag:FLAG.

      Larvae expressing trblR141Q.UAS.Tag:FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4r4 does not show changes in body weight; larval fat body cells and their nuclei, but not their lipid droplets, are significantly smaller than in controls; there is a similar time to pupariation as in controls.

      The expression of trblR141Q.UAS.Tag:FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4slbo.2.6 induces a severe block in border cell migration.

      The expression of trblR141Q.UAS.Tag:FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E leads to a significant reduction in wing size:trichome density ratio, despite of no strong differences in wing size, as compared to controls.
