Comment:

The entire ORF of Wdr92 is replaced with the "mini-white" gene by CRISPR/Cas9-mediated homology directed repair. The boundaries of the Wdr92 deletion were inferred by a FlyBase curator from primer sequences.

      Wdr92X2 homozygotes present apparently normal sperm bundles, but no motile sperm is observed in the seminal vesicles, no sperm is released after crushing of the testes, and ultrastructure analysis of bundle sperm axonemes shows a complete absence of outer and inner dynein arms, occasionally occluded microtubules and occasional separation of microtubule doublet complexes from the rest of the axoneme. Ultrastructure analysis of adult Ch neurons shows a complete absence of outer and inner dynein arms in the cilia, as compared to controls.
