Description

UASt regulates expression of the G2 (rs71785313) Hsap\APOL1 allele, containing a 6-bp deletion (del.N388/Y389) within the C-terminal Serum Resistance-Associated (SRA) interacting domain. This variant is associated with a markedly increased risk of progressive kidney disease in sub-Saharan African ancestry populations.

      Expressing Hsap\APOL1G2.UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.PU induces almost full lethality.

      Scer\GAL4GMR.PU-driven expression induces frequent 'rough eye' phenotype, with a concave structure.

      Adult pericardial nephrocytes expressing Hsap\APOL1G2.UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4Ugt36A1.PK exhibit increased uptake function, as compared to controls.
