UASt regulates expression of the full-length lncRNA:IBIN gene.
The expression of lncRNA:IBINUAS.cVa under the control of Scer\GAL4c564 leads to a significant increase in survival to combined M. luteus and E. faecalis bacterial infection, but does not affect lifespan in the absence of infection, as compared to controls. This expression does not significantly affect the numbers of hemocytes or lamellocytes in either infected or non-infected larvae, as compared to controls.
Expression under the combined control of Scer\GAL4He.PZ and Scer\GAL4Hml.Δ induces a small but significant increase in the total number of larval hemocytes in the absence of infection, but not upon L. boulardi bacterial infection, as compared to controls. This change does not seem to be due to an effect in differentiation, as there are no significant changes in the number of lamellocytes in either infected or non-infected larvae. Also, there is no noticeable loss of sessile bands, as compared to controls.
