HBS148 homozygous testis do not show any obvious germline cyst defects during early spermatogenesis, as they show the expected 1:1 nebenkern to nucleus ratio and the nebenkern and the nuclei have normal morphologies; there are defects in later spermatogenesis, as shown by individualization complex defects (significantly fewer individualization complexes and no intact individualization complex near the apical end of the testis), as compared to controls.
