Comment:

Most of the coding sequence of the endogenous PKD gene has been replaced by a loxP cassette containing the w+mW.hs marker via homologous recombination. Position of deletion endpoints on reference sequence determined from reported primer sequences used to generate homology arms.

      PKD26 homozygotes do not show any apparent phenotype with respect to development, size, or overall pattern of the external organs. Females show normal lifespan and fecundity, while males are short lived. Adults are sensitive to oxidative stress, but normal resistance to heat stress, cold stress, osmotic stress, starvation and high sugar diet. Embryos show no defects in pole cell number.
