UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of the 91kD Doa PK isoform. The transgene was generated using the LD31161 cDNA clone. This cDNA includes sequences introduced by alternative splicing that encode six amino acids (NHTLYS) in the Doa catalytic domain eight amino acids downstream of the LAMMERILG sequence. The sequences encoding these six amino acids are present in Doa genes from other insect species, but, as of this writing (June 2023), evidence for the presence of these amino acids in proteins has been seen in Drosophila melanogaster only in the 91kD Doa isoform.
