UASt regulates expression of 400 Glycine-Alanine ("GA") dipeptide repeats, representing a translation product of the expanded GGGGCC hexanucleotide repeat from Hsap\C9orf72 that causes Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The repeats are interrupted in two places restriction sites used in the cloning strategy (order of repeats is GA100 - SmaI site - GA200 - XbaI site - GA100). The repeats are tagged at the C-terminal end with GFP.
