      The expression of SmoxTRiP.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL44XHand does not induce considerable pre-adult lethality. Larvae show normal cardiac myofibrillar density and collagen (Pericardin) deposition levels, as compared to controls. Likewise, adults exhibit essentially normal heart morphology (i.e. no obvious changes in myofibril density, collagen/Pericardin deposition and cardioblast number) and function (i.e. as shown by no changes in brain staining after dye injection into the heart cavity), as compared to controls. Adults also show an normal lifespan.
