Term posterior escort cell ID (Ontology) FBbt:00048537 (Fly Anatomy)
Definition Cell belonging to the posterior-most population of escort cells, adjacent to the follicle stem cells (Eliazer et al., 2014). They have longer and more stable extensions than other escort cells and often fully engulf neighboring germline cysts (Banisch et al., 2017). CommentCan be distinguished from other escort cell subtypes based on expression of GstS1 and santa-maria, and lack of hh and Pdk1 expression (Rust et al., 2020).
