Description
Description
Metabotropic GABA(B) receptors are Class C GPCRs. They function as obligate heterodimers, binding the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA (γ-aminobutyric acid). (Adapted from FBrf0134605).
Notes on Group

GABA(B) receptors only form fully functional receptors upon heterodimerization between the two receptor subtypes R1 and R2. GABA-B-R1 and GABA-B-R2 form a functional heterodimer. GABA-B-R3 does not appear to have a mammalian counterpart and has not been functionally reconstituted as an active GPCR in vitro (FBrf0134605).
