Description
Description
NMDA receptors are a sub-type of ionotropic glutamate receptor which are selectively activated by the agonist N-Methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA). The heterotetrameric complex binds glutamate, allowing the passage of Ca2+ ions through the channel. They are best characterized for their roles in excitatory synaptic transmission in the CNS.
