Three BLOC (biogenesis of lysosome-related organelles complex) complexes have been identified, BLOC-1, -2 and -3. They are required for the biogenesis of specialized organelles of the endosomal-lysosomal system. The complexes are ubiquitously expressed and exist in soluble and membrane-associated forms.
