Description
Description
Lysine (K) acetyltransferases (KAT) transfer an acetyl group to ε-amino group of lysine residues. KATs have a long-established role as histone acetylases (HAT), but are now known to act on many non-histone proteins. (Adapted from FBrf0159755 and PMID:21075636).
Notes on Group

Human CLOCK has been shown to possess HAT activity. This has not been demonstrated for Clk and so it is not included within the LYSINE ACETYLTRANSFERASES gene group. (FBrf0204216 and PMID:18817890).

Not all 'putative KATs' listed in FBrf0227478 have been included in the LYSINE ACETYLTRANSFERASES gene group as no additional evidence was found to support their substrate specificity for lysine over other substrates.
