Description
Description
The Antennapedia complex (ANT-C) is one of two Hox gene complexes. Hox genes encode homeodomain transcription factors. ANT-C controls the identity of segments that contribute to the head and the anterior thorax. ANT-C homeotic genes show colinearity in their expression patterns with the exception of pb. (Adapted from FBrf0190304).
Notes on Group

The organization of the ANT-C is somewhat more complex than other non-Drosophila HOX gene complexes and the Hox genes are found in both transcriptional orientations. ANT-C also contains additional Hox-like homeobox genes: ftz, bcd, zen and zen2 (FBrf0202179, FBrf0075367, FBrf0194435), which are not included in the ANTENNAPEDIA COMPLEX gene group but can be found in HOX-LIKE HOMEOBOX TRANSCRIPTION FACTORS gene group.
