Description
Description
Nuclear pre-mRNA splicing is catalyzed by the spliceosome. The spliceosome is composed of five small nuclear ribonucleoprotein complexes, along with many associated protein cofactors, that assemble to catalyze the removal of introns from pre-mRNA and the joining of exons to produce mature mRNA. The spliceosome assembles in a step-wise manner, which have been described as the complex intermediates as components assemble and dissociate as the splicing cycle proceeds. (Adapted from PMID:24452469 and PMID:23118483).
Notes on Group

The SPLICEOSOME COMPLEX INTERMEDIATES gene groups have been assembled from a single source, the spliceosome database (http://spliceosomedb.ucsc.edu).

Only complex intermediates A, B, C and P have gene groups. The activated complexes, Bact and B*, and the early complex (E) have not been curated.
