The ATP-binding cassette transporter (ABC transporter) family are primary active transporters that use ATP hydrolysis to drive the transport of substrates across the membrane. The ABCB subfamily can be divided into full transporters, encoding the transporter in one polypeptide and half transporters, which dimerize to form a functional transporter.
