Description
Description
Voltage-gated sodium (NaV) channels allow the inward movement of Na+ ions in response to a change in membrane potential. A variable number of β subunits assemble with α subunit homotetrameric channel. β subunits may have a number of functions, including regulating channel assembly and gating. (Adapted from FBrf0228338 and FBrf0217002).
Notes on Group

In D.mel, the TipE locus (on chromosome 3L) encodes four of the five voltage-gated sodium channel β subunits (FBrf0217002).
