Pipsqueak transcription factors are sequence-specific DNA binding proteins that regulate transcription. These family members are characterized by a heix-turn-helix DNA-binding domain called Psq domain, which consists of four tandem repeats of a conserved 50-amino acid sequence, the Psq motif.
