Description
Description
Polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase catalyze the transfer of N-Acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) from UDP-GalNAc to serine and threonine acceptor sites and initiate mucin-type O-glycosylation. (Adapted from FBrf0151358 and FBrf0190815).
Notes on Group

CG7304 and CG7579 are excluded from the PGANT gene group because they lack the invariant DXH motif (DAQ in CG7304 and NGH in CG7579) and have alterations in other critical residues within the catalytic domain known to be essential for enzymatic activity (FBrf0190815).
