Class IA phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) is a heterodimeric complex of a regulatory and catalytic subunit and is a core component of many many signaling pathways. In vitro, PI3Ks can phosphorylate phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns), PtdIns(4)P and PtdIns(4,5)P2 to generate PtdIns(3)P, PtdIns(3,4)P2 and PtdIns(3,4,5)P3, respectively. (Adapted from
