Description
Description
Diacylglycerol O-acyltransferases (DGATs) catalyze the final and only dedicated step in triacylglycerol biosynthesis, converting diacylglycerol into triacylglycerol. DGATs fall into two distinct families. In D. melanogaster, the DGAT1 family is represented by a single member (mdy), whereas the DGAT2 (or DAGAT) family comprises 3 members encoded in a tandem array.
