Description
Description
Trehalose biosynthesis produces trehalose from glucose 6-phosphate. Trehalose is a non-reducing disaccharide composed of two glucose molecules linked via an α,α-1,1-glycosidic bond and is one of the main energy sources in insects. In D. melanogaster, trehalose is synthesized in the fat body and then secreted into the hemolymph. (Adapted from FBrf0245354 and PMID:25429048.)
Notes

Tpp and Tppl are paralogs of Tps1. Both Tpp and Tppl only have the phosphatase catalytic domain. Tpp has trehalose phosphatase activity, however it is not clear if Tpp is involved in trehalose biosynthesis and thus is not included in the gene list. Tppl lacks trehalose phosphatase activity and thus is not included in the gene list. Tret1l is a paralog of Tret1. As Tret1l lacks trehalose transport activity, Tret1l is not included in the gene list.
