In D. melanogaster, the enzyme(s) involved in either the cleavage of chondroitin sulfate into oligosaccharides or the removal of the 4-O sulfate group from N-acetylgalactosamine are not known. CG15117 is a paralog of βGlu and is predominantly expressed in the male accessory gland. Although it has glucuronidase activity, it is not clear if it is involved in chondroitin sulfate catabolism, therefore CG15117 is not included in the gene list. fdl is a paralog of Hexo1 and Hexo2. Although it has N-acetyl-glucosaminidase activity towards N-glycans, there is no experimental evidence that it has N-acetylgalactosamine activity, therefore fdl is not included in the gene list.
