Reg-5 transcripts are expressed with a circadian rhythm and show a single daily peak and trough of expression. The peak occurs at ZT 14 and the trough at ZT 2. Transcripts were detected in adult heads but not bodies and were also detected in late embryos.

The circadian and molecular characterisation of Reg-5, whose mRNA is expressed in phase with per mRNA under many different environmental conditions. Rhythmic RNA expression is dependent on function of the per gene.
