The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).
Mtr1 protein localization is cell cycle-dependent. It is present mainly in the cytoplasm during interphase. During mitosis, it becomes colocalized with the DNA of the condensed mitotic chromosomes. The colocalization begins in prophase and persists until the end of mitosis.

For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
Identification: The encoded protein contains peptide epitopes immunologically related to the conserved motifs I and IV in the catalytic domain of the mammalian dnmt1.
The gene products of Mtr1 and mus209 interact in vivo. Mtr1 molecules are transported into and out of the nuclei as the embryo undergoes mitotic waves. Mtr1 molecules paint the whole set of condensed chromosomes throughout the mitotic phase, suggesting they may play an essential function in the cell cycle regulated condensation of the chromosomes.
