Gene model uncertain: the encoded small open reading frame (smORF) is not conserved in closely related Drosophila species, but it may be translated based on ribosomal footprinting (ribo-Seq) of endogenous S2 cell polysomal RNA, and western blot and immunofluorescent detection of C-terminally FLAG-tagged transfected construct in S2 cells (Aspden et al., 2014, FBrf0226287).
