Name
high-sugar diet, obesity
FlyBase ID
FBhh0000494
Disease Ontology Term
Parent Disease
Flies fed a high-sugar diet at the larval or adult stages develop phenotypes typical of diabetes (see FBhh0000153, FBhh0000496) and phenotypes associated with obesity (this report); cardiomyopathy is also observed (see FBhh0000482). Epigenetic effects of parental diets high in sugar have also been studied in flies, showing increased susceptibility to obesity among offspring of males or females fed a high-sugar diet (see FBhh0001547).
