Comments concerning this interaction

Source was adult antenna of transgenic fly line; bait produced from tagged transgenic construct; prey produced from endogenous gene.

Ir8a is required for stability of Ir64a in vivo.

Ir64a and Ir8a form functional ion channels when expressed together in Xenopus ooctyes.

Since only about 15 neurons per antenna express IR64a, antennae were isolated from large populations. 200,000 flies expressing tagged Ir64a in DC4 and DP1m neurons were frozen and dismembered. Body parts were passed through consecutive sieves to enrich for antennae. Antennae were manually isolated in the final filtrate to remove contaminating body parts.

Ir64a and Ir8a form functional ion channels when expressed together in Xenopus ooctyes.

Since only about 15 neurons per antenna express IR64a, antennae were isolated from large populations. 10,000 flies expressing tagged Ir64a in DC4 and DP1m neurons were frozen and dismembered. Body parts were passed through consecutive sieves to enrich for antennae. Antennae were manually isolated in the final filtrate to remove contaminating body parts.
