Comments concerning this interaction

Source was live S2 cells; proteins produced from transfected constructs.

Cells expressing Nrt aggregate with cells expressing Ama. The addition of conditioned medium containing Ama is also sufficient to induce aggregation of Nrt-expressing cells. Only a small region of the Nrt extracellular domain is required for Ama-mediated cell aggregation.

Physical interaction of proteins expressed on the surface of cells is inferred from the aggregation of live cells.

Comments concerning this interaction

Source was intact S2 cells; bait produced from transfected construct; prey derived from conditioned media of transfected cell line.

S2 cells expressing Nrt were mixed with conditioned media from S2 cells expressing Ama. In the presence of Ama, S2 cells expressing Nrt aggregated.

Comments concerning this interaction

Interaction in vitro; bait present on live, transfected S2 cells; prey produced from conditioned media of transfected S2 cell line.

The C46Y mutation of Ama does not prevent binding to Nrt in this pull down assay, but the C46Y mutation does prevent Ama-Nrt-mediated cell aggregation.

S2 cells expressing Nrt were mixed with Ama-conditioned media. Cells were pelleted and tested for their ability to pull down Ama.
