A [32]P labeled DNA probe consisting of an E box and a dl binding site separated by 7 bp was mixed with dl and/or sc. Cooperative binding to the DNA was observed by EMSA.
dl and sc bind cooperatively to DNA. For the DNA probe tested, neither dl nor sc could bind alone.
