Starvation or re-feeding free amino acids to medium induced interaction of N and C terminal regions of Ubr1 (FigS7D). Interaction disrupted in fed state. Supplement of effective amino acids (Arg, His, Leu, Lys, Phe and Trp), but not other amino acids (Met, Thr and Val) in the ice-cold, detergent-extracted lysates of starved S2 cells, suppressed the auto-inhibitory interaction of Ubr1 (FigS7E).
