A dominant autosomal suppressor of the eye‐colour gene zeste in D. melanogaster has been isolated after EMS treatment. The mutant, which also has Minute characteristics. shows temperature‐dependent fertility in females. Occurrence of revertants of the suppressor suggests that an insertion of “foreign” DNA causing polarization may be responsible for the effects of the mutant.
