Subject: Bub3 Dear Dr. Ashburner you were right when you suggested to check our cytology. We have done it after reading the paper from Basu et al.and found the Bub3 gene mapping to 3R 99B3-5 in good agreement with this author. While our sequence and that of Basu are from the same gene we think that our sequence contains less sequencing errors since our peptide sequence is closer to other Bub3 genes than Basu's. This is obvious in the 167-189 region. The sequence you sent to me has something wrong since our reading farme goes all the way to the c-terminus QETKQK. I have to check the genebank entry again for mistakes in writing the sequence. Thanks for your comments. Yours sincerely Le Bivic Andre
