Gene or accession: CG10844 Gene annotation error Gene CG10844 corresponds to Rya-r44F FBgn0011286, not Rya-r76CD FBgn0010268 has a mistake in the supporting evidence or functional assignment. Comments: From the star coded flat file of the genes file: \*a Rya-r44F \*x FBrf0126712 == Misra, 2000.4.8, personal communication to FlyBase \*q Source for merge of: Rya-r44F CG10844 Unfortunately the data in GADFly is wrong and links CG10844 to Rya-r76CD The data in the nucleotide accession AE003835 is also wrong. The nucleotide sequence is of genomic scaffold 142000013386047 section 45 of 52 and the protein_ID AAF59036.1 from this entry is linked to Rya-r76CD, when it should be to Rya-r44F. I believe the flat file is correct and the other datasets are incorrect because scaffold 142000013386047 is on chromosome arm 2R, not 3L, ie 44F not 76CD. And the sequence of protein_ID AAF59036.1 aligns to what Swiss-prot has for Rya-r76CD (TrEMBL entry Q24321, 509 aa fragment) with identical amino acid mismatches as the current entries SP has for Rya-r44F (TrEMBL entries Q24498, Q24499, Q24500, and Q24501, 4 alternatively spliced isoforms). Please note that I believe Celera have identified a fifth possible splice isoform, but with 26 known exons there may well be many more! <up>I have not attached the clustals below as the protein is in excess of 5000 amino acids, to see the alignments please use this web tool: http://decypher.ebi.ac.uk/index_by_algo.htm, select Smith-Waterman protein-protein search, paste in the translation of protein_ID AAF59036.1, select SP as the dataset to search against and see the results for yourself.</up> Because of this incorrect link the data on the FlyBase gene web pages for Rya-76CD (see http://flybase.bio.indiana.edu/.bin/fbidq.html?FBgn0010268) is wrong, includeing the location given as 44F3-44F5, when it should be 76C-76D. I think that is all!
