Subject: Parp \- finding all the exons! Hi, this is a good one \- I enjoyed figuring it out. Parp, currently is said to be at 81F and has synonym CG17718. Parp is 994 aa long and CG17718 (AE002892; AAF45445) corresponds to the C-terminal 375-994. Please note that the CDS feature only defines 557aa but the translation can be extended to cover 375-994. By sequence similarity I found the N-terminal 197aa in CG17696 (AE002935; AAF45400). Neither AE002892 or AE002935 has the internal fragment of aa198-374. So by BLASTn I found this last stretch on AE002666. so: AE002935 1-197 AE002666 198-374 AE002892 375-994 >From your reannotation proposal this is going to link up at least 3 contigs into one entry (so as not to have join statements and the maximum length of 350kb can be exceeded if one gene exceeds the length). I do not know of any intervening accession as I do not have an assembled map. Also, Parp is said to be at 81F by FBrf0102327 == Hanai et al., 1998, J. Biol. Chem. 273(19): 11881--11886 in situ hybridisation, data not shown. I wonder if they got the right chromosome arm as AE002935, AE002666 and AE002892 all map to 41C-D. (AE002892 does have two locations, 81F is also listed as it has annotation for CG17718). Ele Gene or accession: CG17685 Gene annotation error Gene CG17685 corresponds to D13806 (Parp (FBgn0010247)) Comments: Hi, further to what Eleanor found out about the Parp gene (see e-mail 19 Dec 2000 'Subject: Parp \- finding all the exons!') CG17685 (FBgn0039975) corresponds to the middle section of the Parp gene on scaffold AE002666. (Note, this CG is only present in release 1 NOT release 2), Gillian
