All exons were shown experimentally to be able to splice directly on to adjacent exons. The sequence is split between the 5'and 3'coding regions. In between lies an additional 11 kb of dumpy coding region consisting entirely of highly conserved 306 bp tandem repeats, encoding the `Pigs-Feast' repeat. Because there is virtual identity between these repeats it has not been possible to contig this region. The predicted initiating methionine codon and the predicted stop codon are marked by __.
