Subject: Helping FlyBase: ADRC.06-60607 Dear Hans-Martin, We are currently curating the abstracts for the upcoming 47th (Houston) Annual Drosophila Research Conference, for FlyBase. I am writing in connection with your abstract: Vps25: a model for non-autonomous proliferation and control of apoptosis. You mention a gene symbol that is new to FlyBase, Vps25. Do you know which of the Genome Project CG annotations your gene corresponds to? All the CGs have corresponding gene records in FlyBase already and we don't like to make duplicate records for what is actually the same gene unless we can't avoid it. The CG symbols become synonyms when an annotation is named with a more descriptive or functional name. With best wishes, Rachel. Subject: Re: Helping FlyBase: ADRC.06-60607 Dear Rachel, vps25 corresponds to the gene CG14750. Its name is adopted from S. cerevisae where it was first described. Vps25 is involved in endosomal trafficking and stands for Vacuolar Protein Sorting 25. Recently, two papers in the November issue of Develpmental Cell have been published that follow the same annotation as well. Probably that would be helpful for you, too. If you have any further questions please let me know. With best regards, Hans-Martin
