    based on its full-length homology to yeast Pat1
    and C. elegans Patr-1, see

Dear Mario,
As far as we are aware no-one else has renamed CG5208, and there is no
gene record in FlyBase with the symbol Patr-1, so your suggestion is
unproblematic.
I will curate your email as a personal communication to FlyBase which
will, at the next update, bring about the renaming of the CG5208 gene
record.  I will use
"Protein associated with topo II related - 1"
as the full name for the gene, by analogy with the worm gene, as it
matches the Patr-1 symbol you suggest.
One implication of this is that you should use exactly Patr-1 in your
upcoming publication, as by then we will already have acted upon your
suggestion.
