Subject: FB Help Mailer: 882 PGRP-LC gene data
I have received a question from a colleague regarding the PGRP-LC alleles we have generated. In the following, we expose that some alleles indicated in Flybase as distinct alleles are in fact just synonyms of the same allele.
We have generated PGRP-LC null alleles by flipping out the DNA region between two Exelixis XP elements, (lines d0693 and d04396) (Gottar et al, Nature 2002, 416, 640). We have noted this mine as PGRP-LC DeltaE. Some labs have requested this strain and have used our internal strain number PGRP-LCE12 (this was the number of one positive line for the intended deletion) in publications. Thus, the two alleles indicated in the site are really one and the same. By the same token, PGRP-LC7454 is the same as PGRP-LC d07454 from Exelixis.
