comments: We named CG11763 "midlife crisis (micr)" since the first alleles we generated had a gradual germline stem cell (GSC) loss phenotype. We have since identified a second-site mutation on our "micr" chromosomes, and have shown that loss of CG11763 does not have a GSC loss phenotype. We will publish our alleles of CG11763 under the gene name "Ran binding protein M (RanBPM)" because of its homology to vertebrate RanBPM, a name that is well established in the vertebrate literature.
I will send you a copy of the RanBPM/CG11763 manuscript as soon as it is accepted for publication.
For the time being, we are still using the name "micr" for our second site mutations that cause GSC loss.
